Dionysus
Thursday, September 8th, 2005Dionysus was kidnapped by pirates and they brought the beautiful and divinely God to their black ship. They thought he was a handsome dark prince from whom they can hold for ransom but when they tried to shackle him, their surprise was evident for the chains only loosened and refused to clasp onto him. All Dionysus could do was give them a mysterious smile.
And the helmsman, realizing this shouted, “He be no man… but a God!” The others laughed and refused to listen to him. Later on, they were attacked by miracles. Firstly, wine flowed in the ship. Secondly, vines grew on the ship and crawled on the sails like garlands. Green luscious grapes appeared on them. The pirates finally realized what the helmsman said was true and quickly tried to return him to shore but Dionysus quickly transformed into a lion and killed the captain. Those were there jumped overboard to save their life but with the God’s power, they were turned into dolphins. Everyone was cursed or died except for the helmsman who was the only on who identified him.
He said him in majestic lion form, “Courage! … you are dear to my heart. I am loud-roaring Dionysos, born of the daughter of Kadmos, Semele, who mingled in love with Zeus.”
